"Many congratulations to the Library and to many more years of serving the community of Aruba"
On Tuesday, August 20th, Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes was present at the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the National Library. It was a very special moment where the Prime Minister had the opportunity to give a speech expressing the importance of this institution. "This building is not just one of books, but also of capable people, dedicated and with many years of experience, which have made the 75 years of the Library a success," were her words.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that many of those who visited the National Library as children did so to aid their reading skills or to find the books needed to complete their school assignments. This institution is a place where students of all ages can sit and study in a calm and undisturbed environment, and/or search for books to read, thereby expanding their knowledge on various interesting topics.
The Prime Minister explained that, seeing how quickly the world of digitalization is growing, the future focus will be on making the National Library the center where everyone can go for assistance and/or help with digital services. As we know, the Government is in the process of digitizing its processes, and it is important that no one is left behind. Therefore, those who do not have a computer or are not very skilled with computers can come to the Library to get the necessary help.
"I am extremely happy to have had the opportunity to be present at this celebration, so I can thank every employee who has worked, is working, and will work at the Library, because they are the success of this institution. Thank you for your dedication, passion, and everything you do to help every client who visits the institution. Congratulations, and may the Library reach many more years of serving the community of Aruba," expressed the Prime Minister.
