“You are the testimony of determination, strength, and courage.”
On the morning of August 21st, the certificate ceremony took place for the second group of women who completed the Social Formation course, Social Vormings Traject (SVT). Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes, along with the Minister of Justice and Social Affairs, Mr. Rocco Tjon, had the honor of presenting the certificates to the women.
The Social Formation course is a unique opportunity for young women who are going through difficult times and facing challenges, to discover and develop skills to succeed in life. It helps them build a foundation of discipline and responsibility in their daily lives. Through the Social Formation course, these women receive guidance, support, and also undertake internships to prepare them for different careers, thus increasing their chances of finding employment in the future.
The Prime Minister noted that it is a great pride for the Government of Aruba to have extended the program to include women. At the time the Wever-Croes Cabinet took office, the Social Formation program already existed but was only available to men, with the current male group being #18. However, the Social Formation for women is a new initiative that the current Government worked hard to achieve, breaking barriers and creating more opportunities for women in Aruba. It was a project that took time, but today the fruits of that labor are evident with the graduation of group #2.
“I am extremely proud of the group of six young women who completed the course today. We awarded five certificates today, with one of the women already having traveled to Curaçao, where she will continue her military training. During their time in Curaçao, these women from the Social Formation program made such a positive impact that one of them will soon begin a career as a soldier on the sister island.
A big thank you to the Marine Barracks, to my fellow ministers of the Wever-Croes Cabinet, and especially to Miss Jessica for guiding this group. Congratulations to all the graduates, you are the testimony of determination, strength, and courage. I wish you much success in the future,” expressed the Prime Minister.
