The Common Goal for the Government and the San Nicolas Business Association is to Bring Further Development in San Nicolas

The Government Convened with SNBA Regarding the Development of San Nicolas

Wednesday morning, Prime Minister, together with Minister Glenbert Croes, met with Mr. Errol de Freitas of the San Nicolas Business Association (SNBA).

The government considers SNBA a very important stakeholder in the development of San Nicolas and therefore holds frequent meetings with them. This morning, they discussed various projects that SNBA and the government have in mind and how to align their common efforts. By the end of the day, the goal is to ensure that there is a greater flow of people visiting and spending time in San Nicolas, and to achieve a revival of commerce in the area. Currently, the major project for San Nicolas is the World War II Monument project.

The Prime Minister indicated that, unfortunately, there is a delay in the project due to only one contractor applying in the public tender and their bid being higher than budgeted. At the moment, there is tension in the construction market in Aruba due to several ongoing projects. By the end of the year, there should be more space available as some projects are expected to be completed, and at that time, the public tender for this project will resume.

Once this project is completed, it will be a very beautiful monument that will commemorate Aruba's role and those who died during World War II. This will be a very interesting tourist attraction. Discussions with tour operators are already underway to bring tourists to visit the monument, and also to visit the local attractions and businesses in San Nicolas.

"This is one of the projects we are working on together with SNBA, but today we also discussed other interesting projects. We are always trying to meet SNBA’s expectations as our common goal is to strive for more development for San Nicolas," the Prime Minister expressed.
